Our history

The first question our customers ask us is why Aravis Prestige VTC?

First of all, our manager, who was born in Annecy and still lives there today, spent all his weekends and school vacations in one of the 3 mountain ranges that border our magnificent Lac d'Annecy: the Massif des Aravis. This massif, in the heart of France's Haute-Savoie department, is less than an hour from Annecy.

A well-known pre-Alpine massif for skiers,
hikers and, more generally, mountain and snow lovers, the
Aravis mountain range in Haute-Savoie is home to the combes des Aravis, the
vallon des Confins and the renowned ski resorts of La Clusaz and
Grand Bornand, two villages with a typical Haute-Savoie atmosphere: chalets
centenaries, small hamlets and charming little streets offer a setting
conducive to wonder, between respect for tradition and modern comfort.

A rocky barrier facing the Mont Blanc massif
between Lake Annecy and the Arve valley, the Aravis range culminates at
pointe Percée, at an altitude of 2,750 m. At an altitude of less than 1,500 m, the
Aravis and Croix Fry road passes link
La Clusaz to La Giettaz, and Manigod to La Clusaz, respectively. With its blend of gastronomy, sport and tradition, this massif is sure to provide you with a dream vacation.

As for the second part, the answer can be found in the history of transport in France, officially dating back to the 17th century under the reign of the Sun King, Louis XIV, who created the 1st transport service.

The appearance of the "Grande Remise" in the 17th century originated in Paris at the Louvre, which was then the palace of King Louis XIV.
At that time, coachmen waited outside the palace to ensure the rapid movement of the King and his court, despite the traffic jams that already existed at the time. To remedy this situation, the coachmen were made to wait within the palace walls, divided into sheds. Depending on the size of the passengers, they had access to a Grande or Petite Remise. The carriages used for this service were calèches, sedans and carrosses, all decorated with gold and silver ornaments. The very definition of Prestige à la française.

During the 1800s, the Grande Remise became a symbol of social status and prestige. The carriages were often used to transport important people such as diplomats and business leaders. Grande Remise carriages were often driven by uniformed chauffeurs, who were trained to provide superior service. Today, the Grande Remise service is still used for special occasions such as weddings, corporate events and sightseeing tours. However, the Grande Remise service has been replaced by limousine and VTC services for luxury personal transport. Despite this, the history of the Grande Remise remains a testament to the prestige and sophistication associated with luxury transportation.

The operators of Voitures de Transport avec Chauffeur (VTC), or chauffeur-driven cars, have high-end vehicles with 4 to 9 seats (including the driver). These services offer personalized, meticulous service in cars that are generally top-of-the-range and adapted to every circumstance. Although the Grande Remise is no longer as widespread as it once was, it has nevertheless left an important legacy in the luxury transport industry. It is this legacy that we strive to perpetuate when you call on our services.
